Dance Painting Gallery

The idea of working with contemporary dance began after seeing performances such as Philippe Decouflé’s Technicolor and the filmed works of Merce Cunningham by Charles Atlas. But the paintings shown here were all created through direct collaboration with dancers, improvising in the studio with my own input about movement and rhythm. The works are structured mainly by geometric backgrounds suggesting foliage, water, sky and other natural elements. In this way I sought to capture both the freedom of contemporary dance and the visual harmony of painting. This gallery presents some of the results.
