Body Language

This original oil painting by Nicholas Stedman, titled Body Language, measures 126 x 146 cm. It is part of the Body Language series, which dissects various types of movement. The work captures four distinct moments within each of four different movements, arranged as a polyptych of 16 panels. The vibrant colors emphasize the dynamism of each motion.

This painting was inspired by a surfer I observed in Venezuela, a young girl diving off the rocks in Siracusa, and two circus artists who collaborated with me to create two distinct spinning movements using a twisting belt. You can see another body language polyptych here
