Text-based Paintings
These works explore the tension between the seen and the unseen. I incorporate embossed text that remains nearly invisible when viewed head-on, appearing only when side-lighting catches the raised edges of the letters. Each character is hand-cut from canvas and meticulously mounted, creating a tactile "echo" of language on the surface.
This hidden layer adds a quiet, murmuring voice to the image—sometimes posing questions, sometimes reflecting on the poetry of the scene. Influenced by Erik Boulatov's interplay of text and sky, my work seeks a more intimate concealment, inviting the viewer to move physically around the painting to "read" the light.
